Rijeka Carnival 2012

By signing the application to the Federation of European Carnival Cities in late 2011, city of Novi Sad officially became a carnival city. On this occasion, we established a Novi Sad Carnival Group, that had the opportunity to present our city in the 29th Rijeka Carnival on February 19th 2012.

Man and woman gathered in the group "Novi Sad Samba Carnival" presented forthcoming Novi Sad samba carnival that will be organized from August 17th to 19th 2012th in our city.

Group "Novi Sad Samba Carnival" was founded this year-2012, as a result of common interests of people gathered around the festival that promotes Brazilian culture "Days of Brazil" which will be realized as a part of the Novi Sad Carnival third year in a row.

Coburg Samba Festival (Germany)2011

Students of samba percussion school "Sambansa" (part of the Novi Sad carnival group)had the opportunity to present our city in one of the biggest samba festival in the world which was in 2011th held for the 21st time.

Participation in the Samba Festival in Coburg enabled the exchange of experiences with young people from around the world dealing with samba music, the development of musical skills through participation in workshops, presenting programs on stages, and participation in the final parade. This was also an opportunity to present cultural events dealing with Brazilian music and culture in Novi Sad (Dani Brazila Festival) but above all present Novi Sad as the first city that generated Samba percussion troupe in this part of Europe.

Since 1992 to present, every second weekend in July, City of Coburg becomes the capital of samba visited daily by over 100 000 people. The participants of this festival are music groups, drummers, dancers, singers and musicians from around the world performing on 9 stages in the city center. So far, annually Festival gathered over 2000 participants. In addition to stage performances, the festival offers numerous workshops for samba percussion, dance, Capoeira, Brazilian street samba etc so that participants could exchange experiences and ideas, connect and play together.

This year, the samba festival in Coburg will be organized from July 13-15th 2012.
